Make Your Own Bioplastic – Little Experiments, Big Ideas!

Using agar agar or gelatine, water, and optionally glycerin and food coloring, you can join the Lunulis Yeti and make your own bioplastic. Pour it into molds, let it dry thoroughly, and turn it into little ornaments, figures or decorations. IMPORTANT: Add a few drops of tea tree oil while the mixture is cooling and stir it in thoroughly. Tea tree oil has antimicrobial properties and may help reduce bacterial and fungal growth.

🌿 Extra tip for longer life: Once completely dry, the material can be sealed with a thin layer of beeswax. Suitable tree resins can also be used as a protective coating to help keep moisture out. Depending on the recipe, drying, coating and storage conditions, your creations can last much longer – potentially even for years, although this cannot be guaranteed.

Nox is the Prince of Darkness. He likes order, dignity, and things that can clearly decide what they are. This experiment cannot. 😑

Mix cornstarch and water and something wonderfully weird happens: Move your fingers through it slowly and it flows like a liquid. Push or hit it quickly and suddenly it feels solid. Yeti thinks this is fantastic. Nox calls it “scientifically questionable” – then immediately tries it again. 💥😂
